Types of Network Attacks
Network attacks encompass various intrusions and unauthorized access to one's network infrastructure. These attacks typically begin with an analysis of the environment, followed by the collection of information and data to exploit existing vulnerabilities, including open ports.
Passive Attacks
At the passive attack level, unauthorized intrusions aim to gather information without altering or disabling system resources.
Active Attacks
Active attacks involve accessing, altering, disabling, or destroying infrastructure resources and data.
Sources of Attacks
Network attacks can originate from within the organization, known as Inside attacks, perpetrated by individuals with certain levels of access to the network.
Common Types of Attacks
One of the most prevalent network attacks is the Denial-of-Service Attack (DoS Attack), which can also manifest as a distributed denial of service (DDoS Attack).
